Can an aluminum jar lid make skincare packaging fully recyclable?
Yes — an all-aluminum two-piece jar lid paired with a glass jar removes the mixed-material lid that usually blocks recycling, so both parts recycle in their own streams while the anodized finish keeps the premium look.
Most premium skincare jars are recyclable in theory and not in practice. The glass is fine; the lid is the problem. A typical lid bonds a metal or metallized shell to a plastic liner and inner, and recycling facilities cannot pull them apart.
An all-aluminum lid removes that conflict. The shell and the inner are both aluminum, so the lid goes into the metal stream as one piece and the glass jar goes into the glass stream.
A jar is only as recyclable as its lid.
Anomatic's patented two-piece all-aluminum jar lid comes in three stock sizes — 33/400 for 7 mL jars, 40/400 for 15 mL and 53/400 for 50 mL — and pairs with Verescence stock Cleopatra glass jars. Because the lid is anodized, the color is grown into the metal rather than painted on, so it keeps its finish through years of handling in a bathroom.
For brands with a recycled-content commitment, the lids can be made in evercycle™, certified by SCS Global Services at 100% recycled aluminum. Custom lid designs, colors and decoration are available beyond the stock range.
When an all-aluminum lid is the right call
- The brand is making a recyclability or mono-material claim on the pack.
- The lid needs the weight and cold-touch feel of real metal.
- A stock 7, 15 or 50 mL glass jar fits the product, keeping tooling cost and time down.
- Recycled content matters — evercycle™ carries 100% recycled aluminum.
